Homework

Homework Policy: It is an expectation that students demonstrate responsibility by completing their homework using their best effort each night. Students will receive a participation grade for completing their daily homework, as long as this responsibility is demonstrated. *If homework is not completed, it will count as a 0, unless it is brought in the next day. When it is brought in complete on the following day, the highest score a student can receive is half credit.*

  • Homework will be given daily Monday through Thursday. There will be no homework on Fridays.
  • Homework will always consist of what we are doing in class.
  • If a child is absent, they will receive their work to make up. It is their responsibility to complete the work (sometimes as homework). Incomplete work will receive no credit.

Math: Students will receive Math homework daily that corresponds to what they learned earlier in the day. They will be instructed to take home any notes from class as well to assist them if needed.

Vocabulary: A vocabulary activity will be given once a week to review and practice the words we are utilizing during our subject areas every day. Vocabulary quizzes are every other Friday so that students have 2 weeks using and studying the words. The expectation is that if students are doing word work activities with these words daily, as well as completing homework with the words, they should know how to spell them at the end of the two weeks.

Religion: Sometimes, students may receive Religion homework as an extension to what we are doing in class. These are great opportunities for students to reflect on what we discuss in class.

*Students will never have Math, Vocabulary, and Religion homework in one night. It will be Vocabulary and Religion OR Math and Religion (IF Religion homework is assigned).

**Students will have two projects to complete at home for Social Studies this year.
