MATH: We finished Unit 2 on perimeter and area, as well as some multiplication and division word problems. Most of the quarter’s focus was on fractions. Students have learned and practiced comparing, decomposing, adding, and subtracting fractions with like-denominators. They have done so using math facts, drawing models, and using number lines.

ELA: We practiced using research strategies using given websites to complete our Black History projects. We learned all about the amazing leaders, speakers, and athletes in the past and present that help pave the way for others. We continue to answer reading prompts accurately by restating, answering, and supporting responses with citations and explanations.

SOCIAL STUDIES: We studied the American Revolution. We learned about battles, events, and other acts that led to a colonial revolution against the British and King George himself. Students learned about the Declaration of Independence and had the opportunity to take it apart to recreate the important pieces in their own words.

RELIGION: This quare learned about God’s Justice and how God’s forgiveness looks different to everyone. We also studied the many parts of Pentecost, and how the Holy Spirit guides us to make good choices for ourselves and others.

HEALTH: We have been discussing the importance of emotions and how we can do our best to manage them appropriately. We practiced this through many scenarios and by creating skits about problems we face daily. Students practiced navigating problem-solving skills in times of emotional need.

SCIENCE: We finished up our computer-based unit on Nearpod about the rock cycle, different types of rocks, and fossils. We also read and studied the Scientific Method and learned about its different parts.

HANDWRITING: We are learning how to write each letter in cursive. Each week, we focus on a new letter and words containing that letter.
